Steph's Story: A Member Spotlight

October 12, 2016

I have had the pleasure of working with so many amazing inspiring clients over the years. I wanted to take some time out to showcase their stories AND hard work. This month, I shine the Member Spotlight on Steph, a busy working Mom of 2 who has seen amazing results with Online Fitness Coaching. Steph has lost an impressive 11lbs and 12 inches (3 of those on her hips alone) and has done it all in a very "sustainable", real life way. Find out how she made some really simple life changes that changed HER in a big way.

What programs are you using with My Fit Coach and what was your motivation to get started?

I started my first "Fit in 6" with Kim at My Fit Coach back in July and had such great results that I wanted to keep the ball rolling. Now I am part of her current "Fit in 6" group as well.

I was motivated to join the program because I was just kind of sick of myself. That sounds bad but...I needed to be held accountable to not only get my workouts in but mostly, to make better food choices. I had baby weight (and then some) to lose and I missed my fit healthy lifestyle that seemed a distant memory.

What kind of results have you seen since starting your program?

The first "Fit in 6" resulted in a 7 lb weight loss with I can't even remember how many inches (a lot) lost. Besides that I actually began loving eating "real" and having my meals and snacks planned ahead of time. My kids started wanting to "do my workouts" with me and even my husband lost TWENTY lbs over the 6 weeks simply by eating the dinners I cooked and not snacking in the evenings. When the program ended I knew I wanted to keep it up - I felt GOOD! Comfortable in my clothes and in my skin!

How have you made "Fit in 6" work for YOUR busy life?

Now, on Sunday nights I look at the week ahead. Schedule my 4 workouts into my week, make sure I have all meals and snacks accounted for, and I am intentional to make it all happen. I wake up and put on my workout gear, I find that makes it easier for me not to "forget" and as soon as baby boy goes down for nap - I workout!  It's over in a flash and I'm energized to get all my other chores/work/projects done.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to healthy living and how do you work around this?

For me healthy living is almost 90% mental. Which is funny - because "working out" is a physical act BUT without the "why" or the right state of mind...the rest all falls apart.

And this is my greatest challenge with "healthy living". Keeping my mind engaged and focused. It's so easy to throw in the towel. That's why this program works - because you have support, accountability, and motivation from others to keep you on track.

Is there one thing that you expected to be hard in your training that turned out to be not so bad at all?

Before the program started I thought it would be really hard to fit in at least 4 workouts a week. I'm a mom, a professional, and my youngest still wakes up WAY too early. When on earth would I find the time? But really - all I had to do was make sense of my day and actually SCHEDULE in the workout. Now twice a week I workout at nap time, once after the kids go to bed, and once Saturday morning when my husband gives the kids breakfast. Done.

What’s your favourite healthy recipe to make on a busy weeknight?

My favourite new dinner dish I love to make is this one pan Mexican quinoa recipe. We also add chicken. I chop the veggies quick ahead of time. Then at dinner it all goes in the pot and 20 minutes later it's done.

What is your favourite exercise?

I really like doing squats. It makes me feel powerful, especially the goblet squat.

Ok now let's get real. Least favourite exercise?  (and you can be honest)

Same as everyone else's...friggen mountain climbers. But they do get that heart rate up.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out on their health and fitness journey, what would it be?

Don't be scared and don't allow yourself to be intimidated. You can totally do it. We all have limitations - don't let them stop you, go around them. Kim will help you;)

Good news! I am launching another round of my Fit in 6 program Nov 1 2016 and I would love for you to be a part of it! Not sure if it's the right fit for you? Click here to book a free call with me to chat more about the program.

And last but not least, if you haven't received your free 3 Step Guide to Belly Fat Freedom, you can download it here.

Tune in next month when I shine the spotlight on another one of my amazing clients (there are too many to count!). Who knows, maybe next time it could be you!

Kim
